As we reach that one year lockdown-iversary mark, we're feeling extra nostalgic for Toronto B.C. (before COVID). We miss restaurants and interacting with people and going to karaoke after one too many sake bombs, OK?

Yes, lockdown has given us plenty of time to find new passtimes, but we still find ourselves not baking bread and longing for the good ol' days. Thankfully Chotto Matte has answered our call with their “Chotto at Home” receipt kit that could be all yours.

Chotto Matte is one of those bucket list Toronto restaurants. They specialize in Nikkei cuisine, Japanese-Peruvian ingredients and techniques, served in a colourful and lively downtown oasis and now one lucky winner will get to experience all the delicious fun at home.

Don't worry, you don't have to be a master chef or any sort of chef for this curated meal. After the winner picks up their meal kit from Chotto Matte on Bay Street (by March 10), they'll find straight-forward, easy-to-follow instructions for each item and all the ingredients, sauces and garnishes you could possibly need.

The meal kit is designed to be enjoyed by two people (remember, sharing is nice) and includes a selection of five of Chotto's signature dishes.

To name a few: Delectable sweet peppers with a drizzle of den miso sauce, black cod with chili miso marinade and slow cooked asado de tira (barbecue beef) with purple potato purée and teriyaki jus — if only every mid-week meal could be this good.

Full recipe kit includes:

  • Padron Peppers: Spanish sweet peppers in den miso
  • Choclo: rocoto butter, coriander
  • Black Cod Aji Miso: Chili miso marinade, yuzu, chives
  • Pollo Picante: Chicken, red and yellow anticucho, yuzu juice, chives
  • Asado De Tira: Slow cooked BBQ beef, purple potato purée, teriyaki jus

To enter, answer the question below.

The question is: What is Nikkei cuisine
