This Indigenous-led food market is on every Thursday at Fort York

If you're looking for a late-summer activity near Liberty Village, this is for you. Every Thursday until late September 2023, Dashmaawaan Bemaadzinjin will take over the historic Fort York site at 100 Garrison Road. The Indigenous food market, run by a catering company of the same name, will be serving a weekly rotating menu that mixes traditional Indigenous cuisine with the flavours and cultures of Toronto.

While the food might change on a week-to-week basis, expect to find the popular maple sumac glazed chicken, bison smash burger and bison cannelloni. The market is cash-only, so make sure you stop at an ATM before swinging by.

In between mouth-watering bites, shop from an array of Indigenous vendor booths selling everything from handcrafted clothes to soap, jewellery and more.
