Germany might be well known for sausages and beer (and dressing up in lederhosen during the month of October to consume them), but the Western European country is also home to some of the world's best Riesling.

This July, Germany's favourite grape variety will be coming to Toronto for 31 Days of German Riesling. The month-long celebration of German wines will bring some of the city's best restaurants and bars together to promote German Rieslings by the glass, bottle or through custom wine pairing menus. And if you're not a fan already, there's never been a better time to learn about the classy white.

The crisp white wine grows in all of Germany's 13 regions, thriving across a number of cool and warm climates, and on soil from granite to sandstone. Though German Riesling might be known for its acidity, the diversity of the grape knows no bounds. From bone dry to off-dry, there's a riesling for every palate with aromas ranging from peach to pineapple.

Here are some of our favourite spots to do some *ahem* research:

To top it all off, 31 Days of German Riesling is giving away a trip for two to Europe's hippest city. Every time you enjoy a German riesling at any one of the participating restaurants, you'll be eligible to win a long weekend for two to Berlin – where you can sample even more great German Riesling.
