For the second in our Flor de Caña and Foodism Mixtronomy dinner series, we invited a lucky group of Foodism readers and select diners to enjoy a rum-themed evening at Louix Louis.

While the first event at Sofia in Yorkville was a classy affair, Flor de Caña upped the glamour factor with a feast inside the luxury restaurant inside Toronto's St. Regis Hotel. Brand specialist Karen Moodie and brand ambassador Billy Killin were on hand to walk guests through the history of Flor de Caña and the drinks being served.

We kicked things off with a Flor de Caña 12 Year welcome cocktail, which blended cranberry and cider with the Nicaraguan rum. Beets and burrata on crostini were paired with a mezcal Negroni which used a blend of Flor de Caña 7 Year.

For the main course, Flor de Caña's take on an Old Fashioned was served alongside pastrami short rib with shaved asparagus and herb salad, pickled mustard seed and horseradish cream. Then, to round things out, Louix Louis' iconic (and decadent) King's cake slice was matched with the creamy Espresso Yourself cocktail made with Flor de Caña 18 Year.

Finally, our lucky winners sipped on a digestif of Flor de Caña 25 Year before going home with a goodie bag that includes Flor de Caña, Green and Black's chocolate to pair with it.
