It may be relatively new to North Americans, but there’s a reason that the Aperol Spritz has reigned supreme for decades oversees. The number one cocktail in Italy, this citrusy thirst-quencher has been a staple since its inception in 1919. And for more than 100 years, that original Aperol Spritz recipe has remained unchanged. Because why mess with perfection?

Oftentimes, the simplest solution is the best one. Made with just three ingredients, the Aperol Spritz is the easiest, most delicious answer to your backyard barbecue, garden get-together or your perfect picnic. It’s a cocktail that can be whipped up in a flash for those extra guests you weren’t expecting, or when spontaneity strikes and you get a sudden hankering for an afternoon tipple to sip in the sun.

At only 11 per cent ABV, the Aperol combines with a beautiful, dry prosecco for a drink that’s bubbly and fresh – and not too strong. It’s a sessionable, easy-drinking cocktail that you can luxuriate with on your patio or balcony as day turns into night.

When you start to feel peckish, pair the juicy, citrus flavours of the Aperol Spritz with your go-to salty snacks. Chips, olives or crostini make for quick and easy sidekicks. Or wow your friends with an elegant charcuterie board, piled high with your favourite selection of cured meat and cheese.
