2 oz. Casamigos Reposado Tequila
1/2 oz. Briottet Creme de Cacao*
1/4 oz. Simple Syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
10 drops Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters*
3 drops Bittermens Hellfire Shrub**
1 orange (flamed orange zest)

Take your desired vessel (ideally an old fashioned glass) and add a small amount of mezcal. Maneuver the glass in your hand to achieve a coating and discard any extra (ideally you waste as little as possible. A spray bottle can be used to achieve the desired effect as well). This is called washing the glass. Put this aside for later.
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass (or use any large enough glass in a pinch), add ice and stir to appropriate dilution (this can vary depending on ice used and technique, between 35-50 rotations). Taste – the aim is to mix, chill and soften the spirit.
Add your desired ice to your pre-washed glass (king cubes melt slower and are ideal for any old fashioned).
Strain your cocktail over the ice-filled glass.
Flamed Orange Zest
Carefully cut a coin-sized disc of orange peel (try to retain some pith to provide structure). Carefully heat the outside of the zest with a lighter and express the oils over the glass through the flame. This will cause the oils to ignite. It will provide a nice show and a pleasant aroma. Drop the zest into the glass.
