The Shameful Tiki Room’s cocktail takes its name from Appleton rum’s nickname during prohibition days. It was illegal to sell rum of a certain proof in bars and shops but, according to the story, many venues secretly hid a bottle under the counter. Customers would quietly ask for a “bend down” or “ben down” if they wanted the server to reach down and grab the concealed bottle to pour them a glass.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Appleton Signature Blend rum
- 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 oz pineapple juice
- 1/4 oz falernum
- 1/4 oz orgeat syrup
