The Shameful Tiki Room’s cocktail takes its name from Appleton rum’s nickname during prohibition days. It was illegal to sell rum of a certain proof in bars and shops but, according to the story, many venues secretly hid a bottle under the counter. Customers would quietly ask for a “bend down” or “ben down” if they wanted the server to reach down and grab the concealed bottle to pour them a glass.

  • 2 oz Appleton Signature Blend rum
  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/4 oz falernum
  • 1/4 oz orgeat syrup

Build all the ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake. Fine strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with an edible flower.
