There's something about a red wine night that seems to turn an ordinary get-together into the stuff of legend. So if we're toasting with friends and making memories, it stands to reason that our wine of choice should be just as legendary as we are. Three Finger Jack Cabernet Sauvignon, named after the fabled outlaw and his notorious reputation, is a velvety red wine that is worthy of your next big night in.

Gaspare Indelicato (the founder of Delicato Family Wines) may have planted his first vines on the rugged east side of Lodi, California nearly 100 years ago, but today we're reaping the rewards. The soils and the Mediterranean climate, featuring warm days and brisk evenings, creates the perfect growing conditions for the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in the region – a fitting tribute for the leading grape in Three Finger Jack East Side Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2016.

The wine made at Delicato Family Wines uses a sustainable philosophy, which respects the land and produces superior fruit.

A daring character in Lodi, California's rich folklore, Three Finger Jack was a notorious desperado who roamed the Sierra Foothills of California during the Gold Rush days. Nobody knows exactly how he died or how he lost two fingers, but his legend has lived on in California's central valley. The gold might have left the hills, but this smooth, intense Cabernet Sauvignon – which was given 92 points by Wine Enthusiast – is no doubt a treasure that a modern-day Jack would be happy to find.

The majority of grapes come from the east side of the region, where the best Cabernet Sauvignon is grown, resulting in hardy black cherry and blackberry flavours, and hints of pepper and charred oak. Three Finger Jack Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 has its location 100 miles east of the San Francisco Bay at the edge of the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta to thank for that intense colour and a flavour Jack would gladly toast to. Indeed, everything about the short bottle and its striking, moody design, shows that this is a red wine to be reckoned with.

If you're seeking adventure for your next big night in, head to the Vintages section of the LCBO for your treasure – Three Finger Jack Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 ($21.95) is released on August 22, 2020.
