Sweeten your holiday charcuterie with a fun spin on the classic board

Forget cheese and meats – this festive season, we're putting together a curated chocolate charcuterie, with a mix of Green & Blacks' chocolate bars paired with delicious nibbles.

Green & Black's charcuterie board

We wouldn't say we judged a book by its cover – but let's just say, it doesn't hurt to make a good first impression. Green & Black's – maker of fine chocolates made from organic ingredients – is putting its best foot forward with a refreshed design just in time for the holidays.

While the iconic colours (representing beloved flavours like Ginger, Hazelnut & Currant, and Maya Gold) will remain the same, the packaging has been given a fresh new look and the bars now feature a 'quality seal' showcasing Green & Black's commitment to only using the finest ingredients.

Since the hand-selected, ethically sourced cocoa beans – which come in ten flavours in a mix of dark and milk chocolate – are mixing things up, what better time to breathe new life into your holiday traditions? This season, to celebrate the new Green & Black's packaging, we're sweetening up our charcuterie boards with a chocolate spread that combines sweet with savoury. Blend flavours like Sea Salt Milk Chocolate or Burnt Toffee Dark Chocolate with pretzels, figs and cured meats for a delicious board that your guests won't be expecting.

To help you on your charcuterie quest (and your holiday hosting journey), Krystle Ng-A-Mann from @dineandfash has some tips to plan your seamless seasonal soiree:

Choose a colour scheme and decorate accordingly

A theme or colour scheme is a great way to create a cohesive feel for your holiday party. You can go with the traditional red, white, and green, or put a modern twist on your holiday theme. Continue the décor onto the table – use a table runner and cloth napkins that fit your colour scheme or gold cutlery. Create a beautiful tablescape and incorporate greenery, herbs, and fresh fruits (like pomegranates and cranberries) into your centrepiece, and on guests' plates (e.g. wrap cloth napkins with herbs and twine).

Make a signature cocktail

Drinks are always important, but go beyond the nog! Make a signature cocktail and give it a name that plays into your holiday theme, like a Moscow Muletide. This will be another memorable for your guests, plus you’ll get to experiment with new cocktail recipes in the process.

Charcuterie, please

Charcuterie boards are always a crowd-pleaser. Guests love to graze at holiday parties and charcuterie boards are a great way to occupy them until the main event. A good rule to follow when determining the size of your board is 2 oz. each of cheese and meats per person.

Switch up your board

Put a twist on your holiday board. Instead of making it entirely savoury, do a mix of savoury and sweet. Green & Black’s chocolates can be used in a variety of ways on your board, like in whole pieces or on chocolate-covered strawberries. Add interactive elements, like chocolate fondue, which you can dip mini donuts or heart-shaped pieces of cake into. It's guaranteed to impress your guests and satisfy their sweet tooth.
