We've all experienced pairings with French and Italian cuisines, but wine goes well with so many diverse flavours and dishes. At Spring into Spice Fest on Saturday May 11, Torontonians can travel the world with their tastebuds, all while experiencing exceptional wine pairings. The groundbreaking festival is the first of its kind, creating wine pairings with cuisines that have been historically underrepresented in the wine world.

The outdoor event will see 45 different food tents, wineries and wine importers come together at Fort York Garrison Common for a fun-filled day of sipping and snacking. Dig into Caribbean, African, Indian, Thai, Latin American and many more cuisines, and pick out wines to sample and discover your own unique parings.

While you mill about the festival, DJs will set the vibe late into the evening, and BIPOC artists will showcase their work onsite. Artist Trenedee Watson will be live painting and selling her work during the festival. Through a partnership with the charitable organization BAND (Black Artists’ Networks in Dialogue) Gallery, there will be an artist showcase along with a pop-up experience where festival-goers can create their own pieces.

“Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world with a tapestry of neighbourhoods,” says Beverly Crandon, the founder of Spring into Spice. “Many immigrant cultures have passionately brought their culinary traditions to the city. We are here to honour that with an inspired food and wine festival, which goes further than anything before.”

Crandon was honoured last year at the Foodism 40 celebration for her work championing diversity, equity and inclusion. She's one of a few pioneers shaking up the wine industry and bringing positive change through her Spring into Spice Festival.

The celebration of food and wine, with art and music is a must-attend for any Toronto foodies and wine-lovers. In addition to the $32 general admission tickets, there are Mother's Day and VIP packages available.
