Just when our “at home pants” were starting to permanently mould into our body, there is a very good reason to leave the house this Saturday, June 13.
From Dovercourt to Dufferin Street, the West Queen West Block is showing support for the Black Legal Action Centre (BLAC) with a socially distant fundraiser, Block4BLAC. BLAC is a non-profit community clinic that provides free legal services for low or no income Black residents of Ontario and combats systemic anti-Black racism in Canada.
From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., folks can contribute a minimum twenty dollar cash donation at 6IX Cycle (1163 Queen St W) for a wrist band to the event with over twenty neighbouring restaurants and businesses – plus entry into the raffle for prizes like a St. Germain Linus Bike and Nike gift cards.
If you’ve been craving a patio day since 2019, there will be delicious grab-and-go bites, cocktails, sweet treats – all at a discounted price with a wristband – and more from partnering restaurants along with wearable art from artists like Adeyemi Adegbesan to kick off your socially distant summer.
Listen to some great music by Raptor’s DJ 4Korners and Poji the DJ and connect with the community IRL all while supporting a great cause and several Black owned partnering businesses like Jam Cereal, Councillor, King Catering and The Good Son.
