When it comes to food, we’re not ones to shy away from a little bit of heat. This time, though, we swapped the cutlery for a steering wheel at Cayenne Taste Drive, an exclusive event recently held by Porsche Canada. Here, it wasn’t Scovilles that were going to test us, but rather a custom driving skill course, with five ‘spicy’ exercises we were tasked with navigating. It was all to experience the capabilities of the Porsche Cayenne — a high-performance vehicle available for purchase at a Porsche Centre near you — and its blend of power, handling and luxury.

After a safety briefing, we were able to get behind the wheel of the Porsche Cayenne and take it for a spin. It was an extraordinary experience — the Cayenne immediately impressed us with how dynamic it is. One second, it felt like we were behind the wheel of a sports car; the next, it drove like a luxury SUV.

Each exercise demonstrated one of the Porsche Cayenne’s state-of-the-art features, like Hill Control, which allows the vehicle to take over; it “holds” the Cayenne and helps steadily descend the hill at a controlled speed, without any driver interaction. With precision engineering that results in an unparalleled driving experience, it’s clear the Cayenne lineup is the epitome of automotive excellence.

The Cayenne lineup includes various models, from the base Cayenne to high-performance variants like the Cayenne GTS and Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Each offers a unique blend of power, handling, and luxury. The Cayenne aims to deliver the quintessential Porsche driving experience in an SUV format.

After we completed the tests, we were treated to a reception with cayenne- and spice-inspired food and drink. Then, the heat cranked up a notch with a bespoke hot sauce tasting. Meticulously crafted to match the exhilaration of our test drive, the four signature hot sauces we tried ranged in spice level and represented a different Porsche Cayenne model. Then, the ‘spiciness’ of our test drive was awarded a Scoville unit level — and we were one of the spiciest of the day.

Good news: You too can get in on all of this spice. Visit your local Porsche Centre to test drive a Cayenne model, and you’ll have the chance to receive a limited-edition Porsche hot sauce. There’s also the Porsche Track Experience. Whether you’re new to the track or an advanced driver, this experience offers driving programs highlighting dynamic car control to build skills and safety behind the wheel. Then, the Porsche Travel Experience allows drivers to explore some of the world’s most awe-inspiring locations while experiencing the thrill of a Porsche.
