Community Food Centres Canada invites Canadians to dine out and do good. Restaurants for Change is a national fundraiser that supports community food programs in low-income regions. Joining in is easy. All you have to do is round up your friends and family and make a dinner reservation for October 18 at a participating restaurant.
In Toronto, some of the city's best restaurants are taking part this year, including Actinolite, Barque Smokehouse, Flock, Madame Boeuf, Piano Piano, Rasa and Union. This is the fourth year of Restaurants for Change and the biggest one yet with 92 restaurants participating across 19 Canadian cities.
In its first three years, Restaurants for Change raised close to $600,000 in support of food programs that build health, hope and community in low-income neighbourhoods. In Toronto, funds raised helped support empowering initiatives at The Stop and the Regent Park Community Food Centre. Restaurants for Change benefits a national movement of Community Food Centres that’s spreading from coast to coast.
Through Restaurants for Change, Community Food Centres Canada is working with a growing number of chefs and restaurants across the country who believe they have a role to play in building a healthy and fair food system where everyone can access good food.
