As the weather finally starts to warm up and summer crawls into view at a snail’s pace, we’re looking ahead to all the outdoor activities we’ll soon be able to partake in. And what we mean by outdoor activities is open-air eating. (Come on, we’re foodies after all. You didn’t really think we were going to talk about physical activities.)
Returning this year, the Feast of St. Lawrence 'Dinner Under the Stars' is the al fresco food event that we can’t wait for. On Friday August 9, guests will dine under a 300-foot tent on Front Street beside the beautiful, two-tier Berczy Park fountain. An 18-piece jazz band will provide the entertainment and set the mood.
Centred on farm-to-table dining, the six-course feast will showcase Ontario’s best produce, wine and beverages. Curated by 10 restaurants local to the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood, each dish will display the culinary talents of chefs who have shaped this area as a foodie destination. Wine, beer and whisky pairings will accentuate the flavours of each course.
Best of all, while you’re wining and dining under the twinkling lights of Toronto’s skyline, you’ll also be supporting a good cause. A portion of ticket sales will be donated directly to Second Harvest. The largest food rescue organization in Canada, Second Harvest recovers unsold, fresh food and redistributes it to those in need.
