Stop in at the Grange of Prince Edward Winery to sample their estate grown wines and enjoy a stroll around the beautiful grounds, vineyards and gardens. Feast on the finest of local produce at East & Main Bistro, where comfort food is elevated to unforgettable. Or head to Picton to enjoy a local pint with a wood-fired pizza at 555 Brewing Co. The beer often has a story – it’s brewed on site – and the menu changes to reflect seasonal ingredients.
The County might be famed for its gastronomic prowess, but art is just as prevalent. Once your bellies are full, grab a slice of culture with one of the many stops along the Arts Trail. Drive through the stunning countryside, stopping along the way at the modern galleries and rustic barn studios in the area. Head to Mad Dog Gallery, a renovated century barn on the way to the Sandbanks Provincial Park that specializes in traditional and contemporary fine art by local artists from Prince Edward County. Meet glass artist Caroline Shuttle at Element Arts or fibre artist Tara Wilkinson at her refurbished chicken coop – known as The Love Nest – and take home a piece of The County.
