National Popcorn Day January 19 | Popcorn-coated cheesecake on a stick

Not to be corny, but popcorn holds a very special place in our hearts. The sound of the microwave humming, the buttery-delicious smell wafting its way to our nose, that salty goodness tingling our tongue (brb, drooling). From sleepovers to movie theatres, popcorn is always centre stage — and usually all over our laps.

On January 19th, bring out the bowls in honour of National Popcorn Day — now that’s a day we can get behind (no offence to Squirrel Appreciation Day on January 21st). To help us celebrate this grand occasion, we've invited some Very Important Popcorns: Orville Redenbacher (the classic), Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP (the feel-good fun one), Crunch ‘n Munch (the sweet treat) and Jiffy Pop (the stove-top party starter) to the table.

Whether you're familiar with these popcorns or haven't experienced them yet, each brand has created the perfect blend of ingredients and flavours for max enjoyment and snacking satisfaction. Looking for a quick hangry-helper on the go? Put a bag of Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP Sea Salt Popcorn in your backpack immediately — thank us later.

In need of a Monday, schmonday pick-me-up? A box of Crunch ‘n Munch salty-sweet goodness should do the trick. For a nostalgic, homemade experience, put on Jiffy Pop's stove-top popping pan (say that fast three times) and pop yourself on the couch. And, of course, you can't go wrong with a handful of Orville Redenbacher's delightful, fluffy popcorn.

Each of these popcorn brands can be enjoyed on their own or made into creative snacks like the ones we have below. Bet you've never had a popcorn-coated cheesecake on a stick? Well, you totally can (and should). For an equally delicious, but lighter snack, we've got a recipe for the ultimate sweet and savoury mix: spicy chocolate popcorn crunch.
