To switch up your couch chronicles and to help local businesses, Uber Eats is waiving the delivery fee for all orders from independent restaurants.

The hospitality industry got hit hard when they had to shut down regular operations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Uber Eats' initiative will hopefully inspire people to continue to order from their favourite neighbourhood spot.

Restaurants like Aloette and Oretta are now offering takeout and delivery. Click here for more.

The majority of restaurant workers are on hourly wages – a.k.a. they need to be at work to make money. Right now, delivery and take out are the only means to keep restaurants and bars going, and be able to pay their staff. And in some cases, it’s still not enough.

To support local restaurants, look for the “eat local” banner on the Uber Eats app. They also offer contactless deliveries, so you don’t have to break your self-isolation or physical distancing streak.
