The only thing better than beer is beer with an awesome backstory. It's why we love Henderson Brewing Company – a west-end purveyor of beer named after Robert Henderson, the owner of Toronto's first ever brewery.

Since opening in 2016, the Junction Triangle-based brewery has been creating fantastic beers, like Henderson's Best and Food Truck – but what you might not realize is that the Sterling Road brewery is also hard at work creating monthly boundary-pushing beers as part of their Ides Series.

The one-time-only brews bring Toronto stories to life, taking inspiration from food partners, featured guests and flavour profiles like sugar from Honest Ed's, fresh fruit and cold-brew coffee. Ides beers are produced in limited-qualities, meaning once they're gone they're gone, with many selling out within weeks of their launch. If you're a beer fan looking to try some truly unique flavours, you won't want to miss their next release.

Henderson Brewing releases a new Ides beer on the middle Friday of every month at 6 pm sharp – November will see a collaboration with the Drake Commissary and their surplus bread to benefit the Daily Bread Food Bank. Head down to Henderson Brewing this Friday (November 16) to try the latest Ides and to learn more about the limited-edition beer. For every bottle sold, $1 will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank to give a little back this holiday season.

Past Ides include October's Run to Wheat, an American Wheat beer (a collaboration with RunTOBeer that was also the official beer of the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon) and September's Go Lanny Go, a West Coast IPA inspired by Stanley Cup winner, Lanny McDonald.

Henderson Brewing stays pretty tight-lipped about each Ides release, but we can guarantee a high-quality beer – their award-winning series took home gold at the Canadian Brewing Awards for the Ides of November (Imperial Stout) and gold at the Ontario Brewing Awards for the Ides of May (Bob & Frank’s Not Your Mother’s Whit) in 2018.
