Finlandia Vodka is made with the purest water — and you can taste it in these cocktails

Crafted in Finland from glacial spring water and golden suomi barley under the midnight sun, Finlandia Vodka is a clean, smooth serve that's flawless in these (and any) cocktail recipes.

Picture golden fields of suomi barley, swaying under the beautiful glow of Finland’s midnight sun. Every summer, the sun doesn’t set for 72 days in Finland, casting its nourishing, endless light on all the crops and plants. It’s in this magical place that Finlandia Vodka is crafted.

It’s also the home of Pekka Pellinen, Finlandia Vodka’s passionate master mixologist, who travels the world, sharing his love of the spirit and showcasing how it can be flawlessly used in a range of delicious cocktails — including the recipes below.

In Toronto, we got the chance to meet the magnetic mixologist and try our hand at stirring up his tasty creations. They’re easy to make, refreshing drinks that will be on our roster all summer long. But they’re also a great jumping off point for getting creative with the pure, clean taste of Finlandia Vodka, that could easily blend with any of our favourite flavours.

“I was born near the Finlandia Vodka distillery, so it has been close to my heart for a very long time,” says Pellinen. “I know the liquid — what is inside the bottle — and I can be proud of that.”

Pure, glacial spring water is the number one ingredient in this exceptionally clean spirit. It flows straight from the Rajamäki spring, naturally filtered by a moraine that was created by receding glaciers, more than 10,000 years ago. Rather than using artificial processes, this incredibly fresh water is filtered by rock and sand — by Finland herself. In 1888, the Rajamaki distillery was founded near this spring, under the midnight sun of Finland. And, after over 80 years of experience, they've truly mastered the distilling technique.

Overseen by the master distillers, mash made from the local golden suomi barley undergoes more than 200 distillation steps for more than 50 hours before the pure Rajamäki spring water is added. These two essential ingredients result in a dry, light and smooth spirit with light notes of citrus and a taste that is pure Finland.

One of the world’s only vodkas made with barley, Finlandia is an award-winning spirit that took home a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2024. It’s as beautiful and unique as Finland herself — and it’s perfect in the cocktail recipes below.
