While whisky and bourbon have gained popularity in recent years, cognac is yet to have its moment. Generally reserved for rappers and the boujiest of pals, the aged brandy seems appropriate for only the fanciest of occasions (like, not-even-when-the-Queen-visits-fancy), in part due to its typically higher price tag.
That could all be set to change, though, thanks to a highly anticipated annual release in the drinks category that has both cognac connoisseurs and beginners excited. Since 2016, Hennessy has released a limited-edition Master Blender's selection every 12 months, which aims to appeal to the more adventurous drinker, at a much more reasonable price point for its quality. At the end of last year, its third iteration hit stores in Canada, offering up a light amber cognac that bears no relation to its predecessors. Hennessy Master Blender’s Selection N°3, is a unique and silky tasting beverage blended from a selection of 20 Cognacs, all of which are a minimum of seven years old.
Hennessy Master Blender N°3 is bottled at 43% to preserve the distinct personality of the cognac, which is characterized by sponge cake and hazelnuts, with a praline finish. Enjoy neat, over one large ice cube or get shaking with one of these Hennessy mix drinks. But remember, the cognac is a true single batch, meaning that it's blended once, never to be repeated – so if you like what you taste, be sure to stock up while you can.
