No one starts their career as CEO: It takes hard work, dedication and the ability to wear many hats at once. A “hotelier at heart,” Hani Roustom has worked at some of the country’s most highly regarded luxury resorts and properties, including the Hazelton Hotel, Shangri-La and the Four Seasons, as beverage director and general manager. In 2020, he took on the mantle of CEO at Friday Harbour, a 600-acre luxury lifestyle resort community, located on the shores of Lake Simcoe.

For the third episode of In the Kitchen with Foodism, we follow Roustom around the all-season property in Innisfil to see what a day in the life of a CEO looks like. From coordinating with the resort’s departments, to overseeing onsite restaurants and retailers and inspiring the team, we find out what makes Roustom tick and what makes Friday Harbour, a one-of-a-kind resort.

During our visit, the Friday Harbour team is busy prepping for The Fashion Collective Series, an open-air fashion event featuring elite designers curated by the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA). We follow Roustom and the Friday Harbour crew to discover how the team collaborates to put together their flagship event for the fourth year in a row.

Roustom proves that a life in hospitality can be as diverse and extraordinary as Ontario’s food scene. And, after 25 years of service and thought leadership in the industry, the industry legend was given an honorary Bachelor of Business Administration degree from George Brown College.
